    PROMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER IÂ
    Salary $1613 – $2942 per month

    • Basic Certification (Texas Department of Health Services)

    • Attendance at DSHS sponsored seminars-10 continuing education hours per year

    • TCIC / NCIC Training and Certification by Amarillo Police Dept

    • Euthanasia Certification within 120 days of employment

    • Defensive Driving Certification

    • Promotion to ACO II based on availability, recommendation of supervisor, and above criteria

     

    ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER II
    Salary $1769 – $3226 per month

    • Advanced Certification (DSHS)

    • Minimum of 18 months is service experience as an ACO I

    • Pepper Spray Training

    • Bite Stick Training

    • Attack Dog Training as available

    • Water Rescue and Boat Training

    • 10 C.E. hours per year at DSHS sponsored seminars

    • Promotion to ACO III based on availability, recommendation of supervisor, and above criteria

       

    ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER III
    Salary $1965 – $3761 per month

    • Meet ACO II requirements/ 2 years experience as ACO II

    • Administrative Certification (DSHS) as offered

    • Tranquilizer Gun Training and Certification

    • NACA Level I Certification/Level II as available

     

    ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER IV (SUPERVISOR)
    Salary $2166 – $4147 per month

    • Minimum of 3 years experience as an ACO III

    • Meet requirements of ACO III

    • 10 C.E. hours per year at DSHS sponsored seminars

    • Position available only with vacancy.
